Description of Ponovo PNS630 Hand-held IEC61850 Network Analyzer for Digital Substation
With the development of power system, more and more digital substation based on IEC61850 has been built in the world. IEC61850 is the new communication protocol which is adopted by power system so as to change the analog complicated wiring connection and protocol conversion. Based on IEC61850, all Messages, such as GOOSE, SV, MMS, PTP, etc., could be communicated on the Ethernet via fiber optical cable connection. In China, the digital substation have started since 2003, until now there are already more than 6000 digital substation put on operation, China Power Grid is planning to build 5000 more new digital substations. PNS630 - Hand-held IEC61850 Network Analyzer
The PNS630 handheld IEC61850 network analyzer is designed for digital substation commissioning testing and maintenance. It is equipped with 4 pairs of fiber optic/Ethernet(flexible) ports, 4 pairs fiber serial ports, 1 pair of Binary input and 1 pair of Binary output, built-in battery for long-time operation for 12 hours, and all program in TF card, which is very easy to upgrade firmware and software.
It is very convenient and portable network analyzer that with a 10.8inch touch screen so that engineer can take it only to different places in the substation for checking IEDs, no need to take complicated test sets and laptop, and other testing accessories. PNS630 is with has more than 11 testing modules for basic relay testing, different MU testings, SV/GOOSE sending and receiving, analysis, SCD file import and analysis, etc. PNS630 can be used for testing other IEDs in digital substation as a multiple-functional tool, including sending and receiving GOOSE, SV, add traffic flow to the switch or other IEDs, check the MU time delay, measure the fiber power of fiber ports, etc. It also supports time synchronization with other IEDs via PTP/IEEE1588, IRIG-B code, PPS signal.
